Determination of the number of tumor-associated macrophages in patients with gastric cancer
Abstract
A direct correlation of tumour-associated macrophages (TAM) quantity and formation of metastasis in patients with gastric cancer was shown. Also the inverse relationship of life span and TAM quantity was determined. The studies were conducted on tumour tissue samples obtained from 37 operated patients. Quantity of TAM (%) in tumour tissues of patients with gastric cancer was determined by immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections. We used CD68 as the monoclonal antibodies. It was found that a high TAM level is a factor of unfavourable prognosis for a disease.References
